YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)

A must stop on a hot day for my kids and myself. Love the shakes.

This place has a great feel! Red stools lined around the counter, great ice cream, milkshakes & they even have board games upon request! This was just another random stop on a day trip through Oak Park & we're glad we made time for it!

Did I really just eat ALL of that 40% milk fat ice cream, hot fudge sundae in a waffle bowl? Waffle bowl consumed as well? Yes, I did. I enjoyed every bite, and regretted all of those bites as soon as my dish was empty. Not because it was bad, but because I felt guilty. Very guilty. The menu needs to be resigned into an easy to read format. I am sure that it would help expedite their line. We stood at the register for a good few minutes trying to figure it out. I do love that when you order 'to stay' your dessert of sin comes in a chilled dish. Last night was particularly busy at 9:00pm and I felt like people were lingering at their tables a bit too long. It was difficult to find a seat. The tables with the checkers and chess games on top should be reversible. So, on busy evenings they can be flipped over to a blank table and people aren't so inclined to spend their whole evening here. I think I have had my fill of dairy for the next few days... and I was serious when I said 40% milk fat.

My favorite here is the dark chocolate milkshake, which I've tried to get at other places, never as good as here. Only critique is once I tried to order a smaller size and they gave me a hard time about it, apparently it only comes in large or kids size, and the kids size is only limited flavors. A smaller size would be much appreciated.

Stopped by about 30 minutes after closing time & was disappointed to realize I had missed out on my sweet treat of the night. To my surprise, the manager came out and let us in with a warm, friendly greeting. I ordered my ice cream-blueberry cheesecake & butter pecan and was not disappointed. It was creamy and delicious-the way real ice cream should always taste. This location has great customer service and I will be back again soon!

Very tasty, local ice cream shop. Luscious and creamy ice cream. I tried the blueberry cream cheese...very good.

It's all about expectations. I grew up in Aurora drinking Oberweis milk everyday and visiting the original plant (now gone) for possibly the worlds best shakes and sundaes. I grew up with one of their sons all the way from grade school to college whom I believe runs the business now - really smart. What I am saying is that I am a long-time fan. I have always loved thier high quality products; however, I feel this Oak Park location was well below their standard. It looked old (not in a good way) and messy. Things tossed about on shelves. Chairs everywhere. Poor lighting. It was a huge turn off. Most locations have a more prestine look that you expect a place that serves persishable, high-quality food to have. When a place looks bad, you start to notice other things like kids crying and stuff. As a non-parent this gets old. My shake was good, but I won't come back to this location.

Parking is hard to find during most of the day and you have to pay coins at the meter. The location is easy to find and there are a few tables to sit at if you're in a small group. There are many options available but make sure you're ready to spend a pretty penny for mediocre ice cream. I was told this was a "must see in Oak Park" but I was disappointed by the multitude of screaming kids, the less than average half-melted ice cream and outrageous prices.

The best place to go get ice cream and friendly service. The manager Estella was very courteous. I highly recommend Oberweis to anyone looking for a nice place to get ice cream!!

Pensive they sit, and roll their languid eyes... + Location, location, location (Hemingway District); + Historic building; - Inexorably slow-moving associates.

the ice cream is delicious! but the service is terrible.....it is such a shame because the place is adorable and in a great location....It seems to be the fault of poor management....I live down the street and know a lot of the kids that work here...the ones who are trained always seem to have their hours cut to make room to train new kids...it is obvious why they have such a revolving door of employees and why the place always seems more chaotic and not as clean as you would hope.....the ones who need training are definitely the managers...get rid of them and this would be a real gem

Had the black cherry and chocolate ice cream, the milk in it overpowered the taste of the flavors in the ice cream. I know i know they do milk its their thing, but the taste was overpowering. Service is fantastic though so if you like milky ice cream this is the place for you.

great location and price for super premium ice cream! love the new flavors and other breakfast options such as bacon and quiche.

popped in to get some milk. O.. M.. G, who's running the store? dirty floor, 4 employees yukking it up while the shift supervisor hurries about, and I couldn't get my eyes off the many large ice cream tubs sitting out on the counter for some unknown reason. I've come to expect slow check out and never a smooth, prompt experience, but this was downright scary. Perhaps someone from Oberweis corporate can pop in from time to time?

Gotta say, I'm really surprised at ANY positive reviews of this place. Tried it twice (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment), first with my wife, then again, on a particularly hot day, by myself. The staff was inattentive - not rude, just 'meh.' On both visits, the place was cluttered and, well, uninviting. But the final straw: the ice cream was SOUR...nasty, awful aftertaste! BLECHHH!!! (You're welcome.)

Browsing in the area and searched for a frozen yogurt place. Although it wasn't the self serve I was looking for they do serve soft served frozen yogurt so I stayed and added my favorite candy, M&Ms. Yogurt was great and they didn't short me on the candy. :) The greeting when I entered and nice service was inviting and nice also. Nice family fun place.

I love you like a fat kid loves Oberweis. Yeah that's my new line. Seriously, what's better than Oberweis ice cream? Anything you can think of that's better can be mixed in to the cream and be that much more awesome. I try to limit my visits to Oberweis as I enjoy fitting into my pants on most occasions, but when that first Chicago heat wave hits, I'll unbutton the shorts for a malt or frostbite (my 2 favs). The portions are MASSIVE. Honestly a family of 4 can sufficiently hit up a large malt. But no one will judge if you just got dumped and finish it all yourself.

I went here with the family recently on a weekday afternoon. Despite there only being 2 other customers in the place, the entire dining area was a disgusting mess. Of the 12 or so tables at this location, only 2 were clean. And by "clean" I mean "didn't have previous customer's dishes on them" We went through quite a discussion of what the difference between a shake and a malt is.. And we eventually got the malt that we paid for .. but what was bizarre was that the manager there at the time was just standing there ... doing nothing. How could she look over those filthy tables and not do something? I'll probably pass on this place in the future.

Johanna A.
The staff is incredibly nice here, especially with the little ones. I ordered a one scoop cookies n cream on a waffle cone. So creamy and tasty! I shared this with my two kids and realized I needed to order another serving as we finished ours so quickly! Yes, we devoured both! ;)

Not only do I love this shop, I love the location where it is. I'm big fan of the Oak Park area. But I feel anytime I visit Oak Park I will be visiting this shop and sampling their delicious flavors of ice cream. This was my first time at this location and it won't be the last. I would definitely recommend them to my friends and family.

The ice cream was so good, they should have sent a poet. Instead, they sent a crappy Yelper who gives sarcastic, one sentence reviews to sophisticated restaurants and 12 volume reviews to dive restaurants. I got a scoop of apple pie and a scoop birthday cake in a waffle cone. When they scoop ice cream, they give you a proper scoop. That means, they do the full once through and then a half scoop for the crappy hypothetical empty space that may be inside of the ice cream roll. My ice cream was delicious. There were pieces of pie crust in my apple pie and pieces of cake in the birthday cake. I got my wife two scoops of vanilla because she wanted to wait in the car. It was delicious as well. In fact, she said it was the best ice cream she ever had. I'm banking on top 5, which is pretty good since I've been in many corners of the world.

One of my fave ice cream places but I have to say this oak park location did not meet my expectations. Lets start of by the non-chalant staff working there. I literally was waiting at the register until someone helped us. Mind you there was an employee making waffle cones looking directly at us did not say a word to us or even try and call someone to take our order. Placed our order and sat down to dirty tables, covered in fudge and ice cream smears, yeah gross! Over all icecream is great but cleanliness and staff need much improvement. 3 stars for the ice cream much more than service.

Well, this will be my new local Oberweis store and overall, it seems pretty good. Downside is that it's metered parking in Oak Park - certainly not the fault of the store though. At some point in the evening the pay for parking goes away - that's when I went here, much to my relief as I seldom carry change. Store was busy but most had already been served. I went to buy a quart to-go - the person in front of me was buying a few. In and out fairly quickly though and the ice cream is always fantastic. I'll be back - hopefully they will keep Peppermint IC stocked after the holiday season.

Had to write another review for this location it's that good. I ordered a couple of ice cream cones for the kids after a game. Of course, I dropped one 2 minutes after and was so upset. A manager actually witnessed it and she was so nice and gave me a new one. Excellent customer service

I love the ice cream here. The staff is very friendly. I loved the fact that the lady who took our order was awesome comuniating with my 6yo son. I didn't even have to say a thing. I miss their hot pies with ice cream oders. They where amazing! And my son loves playing chess! Definitely recommend this place.

4 stars. Good all around. Always clean, free water, Ice cream is the best I've had ever. Not enough staff all the time and place can get very busy.

The staff is super nice !!!! The ice cream is by far the best I have ever had :) the coconut roasted almond ice cream is def my FAV!!! I def felt like a valued customer at this Oberweis :) DeKODA I believe is the manager or at least I think so and i honestly feel like she's very personable and kind :) I loved all the staff and even tho they closed at 10:00PM and forgot to close the door ...the staff was very sweet and still served me after 10:00pm I defiantly recommend this place to anyone that's LOOOKing for a fun atmosphere and great service !! I'll def be coming back !!!

So the ice cream is good- no debate there. The employees... Wow. Last night we ordered four scoops of ice cream. Only ONE was correct. The time before that we ordered a peanut butter Sunday...and they asked what we wanted on it. I had to read them the description from the sign. They definitely leave something to be desired.

I've gone in the past to Oberweis, but wasn't ever particularly impressed enough to yelp about my experiences, but this time was different. I had a coupon because hubby and I had given blood again and he was at home grilling my fish so I went for ice cream - because he asked. The store was relatively clean, the staff were pleasant and encouraging with their suggestions. I ended up getting a soft serve with chocolate sauce to off set a soft serve from McDonald's some weeks before, (It had left a bad taste in my mouth that just wouldn't go away!). This was in addition to getting hubby's coffee ice cream - which was free - (Give blood get free ice cream - it's all the rage now!: -) Still it was overall a good experience this time - still pricey though, (so give blood).

Tim A.
The ice cream is great, and I've picked up a few bottles of milk from them on the way home (just steps from the Oak Park Green line stop, which is quite nice). You're definitely paying a premium, but I consider this stuff top-of-the-line. The service on the other hand, not as much. The staff has no sense of urgency, the line is ALWAYS long when I come in and painfully slow to get through. They are polite enough, but there's no hustle whatsoever. Come for the ice cream, stay for the fact that you have to wait for an awful long time to get to the counter.

Had to wait in line, but it was worth the wait! I shared a double scoop of pistachio and coconut chocolate almond! So creamy and full of flavor!

Yum. Friendly service and terrific ice cream. Fun to watch them make the waffle cones while we wanted for our treats.

I teach at a preschool called Abc Toon Town 2 and when my students chose ice cream as a project I knew the only place to take them was this oberweis. I called the place up and we set up a day and a time and gave my students the experience of a life time. The assistant manager Dakota was great with my students and showed them a behind the scene look at their ice cream parlor. The kids got to explore the dining area, where they store milk, ice cream, drinks and pies and their freezers. One of the best parts was the tour of the kitchen they loved to watch the ice cream machine and loved watching waffle cones being made. With any kid their most memorable moment was tasting the ice cream. To all the teachers and parents looking for an amazing welcoming environment to bring your students or kids this obwerweis is the place to go. I've been coming here since i was a kid and after 27 years you can never go wrong with a Banana Milkshake which is what I ordered. Thank you to Dakota for her time and patience and Estella for allowing us to come.

Today I noticed something new in the freezer - single servings of ice cream for 99 cents in a container that is sort of like the old push ups. Great idea for people like me who eat the entire container of ice cream whether it's a pint, quart, or half gallon. I took it home and squirted it into a bowl and ate it. It's more like soft serve than regular ice cream, but OK for a chocolate ice cream fix. I also was given a sample of their ice cream pie and coffee. They are going to offer coffee for free on Fridays. (Too bad they open mid-morning!) Since I only went in for a quart of milk, this turned out to be a lot more than I expected. Nice.

Dont Care wat anyone says oberweis is the single best ice cream parlor known to man!!!!! Try the hot fudge sundae. The ice cream is creamy and flavorful, whipped cream sweet and inviting, hot fudge warm, indulging and rich, cherry sweet, and the pecans the salty pecans the perfect thing to top it all off even better than the cherry. I luv it i go there every saturday and i cant get enough. You go there once you will be forever loving oberwies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Â!!!!!!!!!!
(5)
Jenny Z.
It takes me about 5 minutes to get to Oberweis from my door and this is a deliciously terrible thing. I have never had anything that I didn't enjoy-even if this establishment is owned by a family whose politics are kind of insane. I almost always get a hot fudge sundae with a few types of ice cream....and ok, I also usually get a cookie on the side. I love the games and the tables with the chess board too. You can't eat here every week but as a special treat it is AMAZING!
(4)
Matthew K.
This place reminds me of the old ice cream shops you would see in old movies and pictures. They have the granite tabletops with checkerboards on top as well as a whole slew of board games to enjoy while you try one of their many amazing ice cream choices, shakes, malts or sundaes. The service has always been good and the ice cream is great. I usually find myself here at least once a week during the summer and have never walked away unhappy. They also have a whole refrigerator section with milk, cheese, breakfast meats, and a whole slew of other products. Oh and while this didn't really matter to me they have kosher products as well as providing gluten free products should that be of any interest to you.
(4)
J W.
In German I would say "LECKER"!!! Their ice cream is just delish. Creamy, milky and not too sweet which I like. I can recommend their sorbet too. It's refreshing in the summer.
(4)
Tina C.
This is a wonderful place. Once you step in, it feels like you went back at least 20 years. It's a bit small, but the icecream makes up for it for sure. Now to be honest, I don't eat much icecream. Now I understand why. Because everything that I've eaten was just HORRIBLE compared to oberweis. I always get just plain vanilla. It's so rich and creamy. Plus the other good thing they have about this place is their dairy case. You can buy different kinds of milk, or juice, or yogurt. whatever you need. It's great to just get a vanilla cone and sit and play chess with my boyfriend, and listen to the oldies channel. This place just puts me in a great mood. Five stars all the way!

Meg X.
The ice cream here is delicious. This store does its best to maintain a clean eating area. Most of the employees were standoffish, back by the ice cream prep area gossiping with each other, kind of dragging their asses about getting stuff done. The girl at the cash register - I think her name was Latoya - was courteous, polite, and quick to bus tables. I feel sorry for, having to work with a bunch of uppity bitches like that. The ice cream is divine, though - I had the Apple Strudel Sundae, and damn was it good! Parking is easiest on the south side of the train tracks (South Blvd), and the parlor is just half a block away from Scoville Park - a great place to eat ice cream and people watch.

Excellent dessert spot! I definitely gained a few pounds here last summer! The ice cream is delicious and the dairy products are wonderful! The chocolate milk and fruit punch are my favorite grocery products they carry! However, they now carry Garden Fresh Gourmet Salsa, guac, and chips! A whole new reason to go to Oberweis! This was my favorite treat in Detroit and I was thrilled to see it at Oberweis. I hope they expand the selection as Jack's Special is heavy on cilantro and I prefer the cool fresh flavor of Wild Mild salsa! Both the regular and spicy guacs are heavenly!

Oberweis ice cream is very highly over-rated. It's whipped full of air, artificially flavored and overly sweetened with corn syrup. It's just NOT quality ice cream. It's not, people. It may taste good, because it doesn't taste bad, but it's full of air, and that is a no-no in terms of ice cream quality. You can feel it 'squish' when your tongue presses it to your palate, like letting air out of a bag. It's just full of air. Why pay for air? Oberweis ice cream contains Polysorbate 80 as well as an unnamed 'stabilizer' and 'emulsifier'. Here's the wiki on Polysorbate 80: Polysorbate 80 (commercially also known as Tween 80, a trademark of Croda International Plc, previously Uniqema/ICI) [1] is a nonionic detergent and emulsifier derived from polyoxylated sorbitol and oleic acid, and is often used in foods. Polysorbate 80 is a viscous, water-soluble yellow liquid. The hydrophilic groups in this compound are polyethers also known as polyoxyethylene groups which are polymers of ethylene oxide. In the nomenclature of polysorbates, the numeral designation following polysorbate refers to the lipophilic group, in this case the oleic acid (see polysorbate for more detail). Polysorbate 80 is often used in ice cream to prevent milk proteins from completely coating the fat droplets. This allows them to join together in chains and nets, to hold air in the mixture, and provide a firmer texture, holding its shape as the ice cream melts." - Mmmm, yummy! I have visited different locations and been served the wrong thing - not the flavors I requested. They must have a big turnover of staff, and they're not being properly trained. I watched them screw up other orders, too. Polite, though inept service, but the ice cream is still crrrraaap.

i am NOT partial to ice cream. growing up, the only time i ever downed it was bc baskin robbins sent me a free ice cream cone coupon for my birthday. but oh my lordies does THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM make me want to go back in time, hoard all my free bday cone coupons, throw them at the cashier, grab a bucket of this stuff, and gobble it down until i lapse into a coma.
(4)
Jane J.
Hands down, the best ice cream I have EVER had. The peanutbutter chocolate ice cream is amazing. More expensive than the average ice cream place, but it's well worth it. The only wrinkle is the staff--the kids who prepare and deliver the ice cream seem amazingly unhappy--their rudeness is always a dark spot on an otherwise great experience.
(4)
A.S. V.
The ice cream is NOT homemade. It's made in a factory, and there is a difference. Compare it to Bobtail and you'll taste the difference. But hey, Oberweis ice cream is better than no ice cream. I'm surprised there aren't other options around this neighborhood yet.
(3)

This is the perfect spot to get some chocolate peanut butter ice cream and go for a walk! So good!

Total dessert gluttony. I was hoping they'd have pistachio ice cream, but alas they did not.

Alana P.
My 2 stars are ONLY for the great service and friendly environment. The ice cream is disgusting. Tastes sour... you call it milky,I call it gross. Both my fiance and I tried 3 different items on the menu and all 3 sour and GROSS. There is a reason it only has 3 stars. I never should have she'd away from my 5 star brown cow ice cream parlor.
(2)
Victoria G.
Delicious ice cream! Be careful: portions are huge! One scoop is definitely enough unless you really want a lot of ice cream :) One comment about the location: it's right next to the train station but they share the building with other businesses and its not clear what door to use for entrance. Extra sign would help :)
(4)
M W.
Their milk is the best milk in the entire world. Period. Amazing ice cream too. Love their chocolate peanut butter, apple strudel, and chocolate marshmallow flavors.
(5)
Gino W.
There isn't an Oberweis to date to mess up ice cream. And the Oberweis in Oak Park maintains a tradition of dishing up some good scoops of fun. One thing to note is that ice cream parlours in the suburbs of Chicago have a tendency to fall prey to indecisive, giggling high school teenagers. Oberweis isn't exempt. I always get a couple of sccops in a bowl for take-away. Forever happy when I do. But if there is a table available and no teenagers, I will sit an enjoy some of the most natural tasting ice cream around. [You'll note how tasteless ice cream from the local market is after having soem Oberweis.]
(5)
Stef C.
It gets super packed so you might have to wait to find a seat. They have a great selection of ice cream.

Big tip to everyone use the front entrance first time going to this location we went in through the back entrance and the garbage cans are aganist the wall. .. The sickening smell. Not impressed. Don't expect service with a smile here. Ice cream was good.

Oberweis is okay, but there are so many places in the area that are better... They've just never wowed me with either their ice-cream or their milk (even when I was little and lived just north of the Oberweis HQ and had many friends who had their milk delivered to their homes). Or their customer service, for that matter. Here's the run-down of other places to satisfy your ice-cream fix: Peterson's - More local and old-fashioned. Coldstone - More customizable. Ben & Jerry's - More creative. Brown Cow - Better quality and more local. The only reason why I go to Oberweis now is when I give blood and get a coupon to get some free ice-cream. I don't dislike Oberweis ice-cream (but I do dislike milk), it's just that I have so many other options available to me that I like more.
(2)
Stephen B.
My wife and I went to Oberweis today after donating blood. The blood bank gave us certificates to Oberweis. I believe that Oberweis donates them as a thank you for providing the "Gift of Life." I had a waffle cone with mango-pomegranate ice cream. Nina had a hot fudge sundae. Both were delicious. The negatives are that the floor and tables were dirty. They had many people working, but no one was cleaning the dining area. I didn't go there for the pristine conditions, I went for ice cream, and it was delicious. I will go back.

High butterfat content makes this ice cream on top of their game. Very rich and creamy. You can't go wrong here. Love the taste!
(5)
Wulfstan C.
We stopped here when seeking ice cream and visiting Oak Park. It was good and satisfying, although our experience was not thrilling. Ice cream was very good but not outstanding and flavours seemed fairly limited. The place is pretty enjoyable but a bit grungy. Service was friendly but seemed lax and not careful, the employees not really seeming to know what they were doing. Temperatures were a bit off, with my whopped cream liquifying very rapidly. Sundaes were good but not great.
(3)
Naureen R.
Oberweis has the name--and it lives up to it! While I don't always appreciate the customer service, the pumpkin ice cream in the fall and mango-pomegranate in the summer always keep me coming back!
(4)
Grace N.
As soon as I dove into my blueberry ice cream, I shouted, "It tastes like summer!" as my husband chuckled. Then I tried his mint chocolate shake and said, "hey, yours tastes like summer too." Their ice cream tastes fresh, creamy, and dare I say....milky? I've also decided that if and when I have high school aged children, they are definitely getting a job at Oberweis. These young guys have a great work ethic and a sunny attitude.
(5)
Luis B.
Real ice cream doesn't get any better than this. You can tell when something is freshly made, and you'll get that feeling coming here. This is such a family friendly spot. It sports table tops with chess pieces so customers can enjoy a friendly game of chess and enjoy their ice cream. It can get a tad expensive, but completely worth it. The banana milk shake is out of this world! I also loved their ice cream sundae. This is the perfect spot for dessert after enjoying a great dinner in the Oak Park area. Feel like a kid again and go to an Oberweis Ice Cream Parlor. You'll enjoy it.
(5)
Sarah T.
This is the ab-solute best ice cream ever. I tried coconut choc almond and espresso choc in waffle cone. It was delightful. The store also has chess board setup on some of the tables.
(5)
Sarah W.
Ice cream is so rich and creamy here you cannot get this in California (unless you want to pay dough). Rather than it being icy it was really rich. I didn't know their farm had such yumlicious cows! + to service + to diner decor + to flavor offerings (more than I expected from a midwest suburban ice cream parlor..no offense. hehe.) - somewhat expensive, but also great portion size. You can share a single scoop with a friend easssyyy.
(5)
Jessica C.
Great place to go for dessert! I visited Chicago for a week and my friend said that she had to bring me here. It was definitely worth the long walk to here. We got two scoops on a freshly made waffle bowl: cookie dough and chocolate almond. Both extremely creamy and delicious. My sister also tried the blueberry one, I forgot the name exactly, but it was amazing! I wish they did clean up a little more often though, it was a little sticky and gross on the table...
(4)
Anne T.
The ice cream is pretty good, but not sensational. I really love their frozen yogurt though! It is splendid. It is richer and thicker than most of the frozen yogurts you find outside, and I would like to think it is a lot healthier than ice cream. Normally I feel less satisfied when I eat frozen yogurt but this stuff basically just tastes like soft serve.
(4)
Julie R.
Worse customer service. I had the frozen mocha coffee shake, which tasted like milk and leaves a bad after taste. My husband had a frozen yogurt, which did not taste like frozen yogurt.

This was a much delated review from my summer visit to Chicago. Overall it is a cute little shop. Creamy ice cream. And the seasonal Chocolate Caramel Crunch which was not crunchy at all, but still tasty nonetheless.
(3)
Rhonda G.
It's ice cream. It's really tasty ice cream...no doubt about that. Looking at the menu gives me a headache because it's not as organized as it could be and the staff sure isn't quick to ask what you're in the mood for or offer suggestions. They weren't rude by any means just not overly nice and helpful. But anyway, we ordered the Hot fudge brownie sundae. My boyfriend and I shared (glad we did)! It was great! Vanilla ice cream (but you can pick any of the flavors), hot fudge, pecans, whipped cream, warm brownie and a cherry on top. To be honest I probably should have stopped eating way before I did but it's been a long week so whatever. Great place to just go and sit with friends on a warm night, vent about the week, laugh and forget about the stress of the day. Must be some pretty good ice cream huh? Yes. Yes, it is. Live in the moment. Don't count calories (if only for one day). Check it out!

After many years of moral struggle and angst over "to buy or not to buy evil Oberweis" I finally decided I LOVE good milk and I will NOT part with it b/c somebody is a doucheb*g Republican. Don't hate! ;) Their home delivery service is FANTASTIC - if Organic Valley had uber delicious milk, in recyclable glass bottles, delivered to my front door on time every week, then yes I would support them instead. But they don't - so Oberweis is the clear winner. That's Capitalism people! Their ice cream at their store is Beyond Delicious as well - really truly amazing products here - everything is always SO fresh and creamy. Keep up the top notch quality!!

Chocolate malts and the mint chocolate-chip shakes are worth all the zillions of calories you ingest. You can park for the first hour free in the village garage behind it, but service is so slow it may take longer than that! Instead, park a couple of blocks away and help out your waistline at the same time. Bring lots of dough because you'll need a second mortgage to pay for it all, especially if you bring your kids or hungry in-laws like mine.

I had the Peanut-butter malt and it can only be described as pure heaven in a glass. My girl had the strawberry malt and said it was really good.

It is richer and thicker than most of the frozen yogurts you find outside, and I would like to think it is a lot healthier than ice cream. Normally I feel less satisfied when I eat frozen yogurt but this stuff basically just tastes like soft serve.

(4)

I had the Peanut-butter malt and it can only be described as pure heaven in a glass. My girl had the strawberry malt and said it was really good.

Hillary S.
Had to wait in line, but it was worth the wait! I shared a double scoop of pistachio and coconut chocolate almond! So creamy and full of flavor!

Yum. Friendly service and terrific ice cream. Fun to watch them make the waffle cones while we wanted for our treats.

(5)
James B.
(2)

Evie S.
(3)
Christina G.
(4)
Cristina T.
(5)
Martin P.

YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)
(5)
(4)

Their milk is the best milk in the entire world. Period. Amazing ice cream too. Love their chocolate peanut butter, apple strudel, and chocolate marshmallow flavors.

A must stop on a hot day for my kids and myself. Love the shakes.

Bex M.

A must stop on a hot day for my kids and myself. Love the shakes.

(4)
Jennifer M.

(5)
James B.
(2)
Johanna A.
The staff is incredibly nice here, especially with the little ones. I ordered a one scoop cookies n cream on a waffle cone. So creamy and tasty! I shared this with my two kids and realized I needed to order another serving as we finished ours so quickly! Yes, we devoured both! ;)
(4)
Christopher E.

Bartek K.

(3)
Hillary S.
Had to wait in line, but it was worth the wait! I shared a double scoop of pistachio and coconut chocolate almond! So creamy and full of flavor!

Yum. Friendly service and terrific ice cream. Fun to watch them make the waffle cones while we wanted for our treats.

(2)
Marcus M.
The best place to go get ice cream and friendly service. The manager Estella was very courteous. I highly recommend Oberweis to anyone looking for a nice place to get ice cream!!
(5)

Pensive they sit, and roll their languid eyes... + Location, location, location (Hemingway District); + Historic building; - Inexorably slow-moving associates.
(2)

the ice cream is delicious! but the service is terrible.....it is such a shame because the place is adorable and in a great location....It seems to be the fault of poor management....I live down the street and know a lot of the kids that work here...the ones who are trained always seem to have their hours cut to make room to train new kids...it is obvious why they have such a revolving door of employees and why the place always seems more chaotic and not as clean as you would hope.....the ones who need training are definitely the managers...get rid of them and this would be a real gem
(2)
Martin P.

YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)
(5)

Acuragirl86 C.

(4)

This is the perfect spot to get some chocolate peanut butter ice cream and go for a walk! So good!

(4)

YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)

(3)Christina G.
(4)Cristina T.
(5)Jeff P.
Very tasty, local ice cream shop. Luscious and creamy ice cream. I tried the blueberry cream cheese...very good.
(4)Ryan B.
(3)Brit S.
(2)Marcus M.
The best place to go get ice cream and friendly service. The manager Estella was very courteous. I highly recommend Oberweis to anyone looking for a nice place to get ice cream!!
(5)D'Arcy K.
Pensive they sit, and roll their languid eyes... + Location, location, location (Hemingway District); + Historic building; - Inexorably slow-moving associates.
(2)Elizabeth D.
the ice cream is delicious! but the service is terrible.....it is such a shame because the place is adorable and in a great location....It seems to be the fault of poor management....I live down the street and know a lot of the kids that work here...the ones who are trained always seem to have their hours cut to make room to train new kids...it is obvious why they have such a revolving door of employees and why the place always seems more chaotic and not as clean as you would hope.....the ones who need training are definitely the managers...get rid of them and this would be a real gem
(2)Martin P.
Had the black cherry and chocolate ice cream, the milk in it overpowered the taste of the flavors in the ice cream. I know i know they do milk its their thing, but the taste was overpowering. Service is fantastic though so if you like milky ice cream this is the place for you.
(2)Char Y.
great location and price for super premium ice cream! love the new flavors and other breakfast options such as bacon and quiche.
(4)Katherine M.
popped in to get some milk. O..
(1)John C.
(1)Jennifer M.
(5)Angie K.
(5)James B.
(2)Johanna A.
The staff is incredibly nice here, especially with the little ones. I ordered a one scoop cookies n cream on a waffle cone. So creamy and tasty! I shared this with my two kids and realized I needed to order another serving as we finished ours so quickly! Yes, we devoured both! ;)
(4)Christopher E.
(5)Jared P.
(5)Evie S.
(3)Rob W.
(4)Alexia M.
Had to write another review for this location it's that good. I ordered a couple of ice cream cones for the kids after a game. Of course, I dropped one 2 minutes after and was so upset. A manager actually witnessed it and she was so nice and gave me a new one. Excellent customer service
(5)Maricela A.
(5)John V.
4 stars. Good all around. Always clean, free water, Ice cream is the best I've had ever. Not enough staff all the time and place can get very busy.
(4)Bartek K.
(5)Lyndsey A.
(3)Nina B.
(4)Tim A.
(3)Hillary S.
Had to wait in line, but it was worth the wait! I shared a double scoop of pistachio and coconut chocolate almond! So creamy and full of flavor!
(4)Nanci L.
Yum. Friendly service and terrific ice cream. Fun to watch them make the waffle cones while we wanted for our treats.
(5)Amber G.
(5)Marlene S.
Nice.
(3)Victoria B.
(5)Jenny Z.
(4)Matthew K.
(4)J W.
In German I would say "LECKER"!!! Their ice cream is just delish. Creamy, milky and not too sweet which I like. I can recommend their sorbet too. It's refreshing in the summer.
(4)Tina C.
(5)Meg X.
(4)Bex M.
(4)Vic O.
(1)Steph F.
i am NOT partial to ice cream. growing up, the only time i ever downed it was bc baskin robbins sent me a free ice cream cone coupon for my birthday. but oh my lordies does THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM make me want to go back in time, hoard all my free bday cone coupons, throw them at the cashier, grab a bucket of this stuff, and gobble it down until i lapse into a coma.
(4)Jane J.
(4)A.S. V.
The ice cream is NOT homemade. It's made in a factory, and there is a difference. Compare it to Bobtail and you'll taste the difference. But hey, Oberweis ice cream is better than no ice cream. I'm surprised there aren't other options around this neighborhood yet.
(3)Kate G.
This is the perfect spot to get some chocolate peanut butter ice cream and go for a walk! So good!
(5)Joshua M.
Total dessert gluttony. I was hoping they'd have pistachio ice cream, but alas they did not.
(4)Andrea O.
i've come here a lot. good ice cream and shakes.
(4)Alana P.
(2)Victoria G.
Delicious ice cream! Be careful: portions are huge! One scoop is definitely enough unless you really want a lot of ice cream :) One comment about the location: it's right next to the train station but they share the building with other businesses and its not clear what door to use for entrance. Extra sign would help :)
(4)M W.
Their milk is the best milk in the entire world. Period. Amazing ice cream too. Love their chocolate peanut butter, apple strudel, and chocolate marshmallow flavors.
(5)Gino W.
(5)Stef C.
It gets super packed so you might have to wait to find a seat. They have a great selection of ice cream.
(4)Acuragirl86 C.
Big tip to everyone use the front entrance first time going to this location we went in through the back entrance and the garbage cans are aganist the wall. .. The sickening smell. Not impressed. Don't expect service with a smile here. Ice cream was good.
(2)Yvonne B.
(2)Stephen B.
(4)Greg K.
High butterfat content makes this ice cream on top of their game. Very rich and creamy. You can't go wrong here. Love the taste!
(5)Wulfstan C.
(3)Naureen R.
Oberweis has the name--and it lives up to it! While I don't always appreciate the customer service, the pumpkin ice cream in the fall and mango-pomegranate in the summer always keep me coming back!
(4)Grace N.
(5)Luis B.
(5)Sarah T.
This is the ab-solute best ice cream ever. I tried coconut choc almond and espresso choc in waffle cone. It was delightful. The store also has chess board setup on some of the tables.
(5)Sarah W.
(5)Jessica C.
(4)Anne T.
(4)Julie R.
Worse customer service. I had the frozen mocha coffee shake, which tasted like milk and leaves a bad after taste. My husband had a frozen yogurt, which did not taste like frozen yogurt.
(1)angel s.
This was a much delated review from my summer visit to Chicago. Overall it is a cute little shop. Creamy ice cream. And the seasonal Chocolate Caramel Crunch which was not crunchy at all, but still tasty nonetheless.
(3)Rhonda G.
(4)Kelly B.
(3)A D.
(4)Brandon C.
I had the Peanut-butter malt and it can only be described as pure heaven in a glass. My girl had the strawberry malt and said it was really good.
(5)Anne T.

(4)Brandon C.
I had the Peanut-butter malt and it can only be described as pure heaven in a glass. My girl had the strawberry malt and said it was really good.
(5)Brit S.
(2)Tim A.
(5)Jennifer M.
(5)Angie K.
(5)James B.
(5)Jared P.
(5)Evie S.
(3)Christina G.
(4)Cristina T.
(5)Martin P.
(1)John C.
(1)Sarah T.
This is the ab-solute best ice cream ever. I tried coconut choc almond and espresso choc in waffle cone. It was delightful. The store also has chess board setup on some of the tables.
(5)Sarah W.
(5)Amber G.
(5)Tina G.
YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)
(5)Alana P.
(5)Gino W.
(2)Stephen B.
(4)Greg K.
High butterfat content makes this ice cream on top of their game. Very rich and creamy. You can't go wrong here. Love the taste!
(5)Wulfstan C.
(3)Naureen R.
Oberweis has the name--and it lives up to it! While I don't always appreciate the customer service, the pumpkin ice cream in the fall and mango-pomegranate in the summer always keep me coming back!
(4)Grace N.
(5)Luis B.
(5)Jessica C.
(4)Rob W.
(5)John V.
4 stars. Good all around. Always clean, free water, Ice cream is the best I've had ever. Not enough staff all the time and place can get very busy.
(4)Bartek K.
(5)Lyndsey A.
(3)Nina B.
(4)Christie Katelyn S.
This place has a great feel! Red stools lined around the counter, great ice cream, milkshakes & they even have board games upon request! This was just another random stop on a day trip through Oak Park & we're glad we made time for it!
(5)Kelly S.
(3)John D.
A must stop on a hot day for my kids and myself. Love the shakes.
(5)Jeff P.
Very tasty, local ice cream shop. Luscious and creamy ice cream. I tried the blueberry cream cheese...very good.
(4)Ryan B.
(3)Jenny Z.
(4)Matthew K.
(4)J W.
In German I would say "LECKER"!!! Their ice cream is just delish. Creamy, milky and not too sweet which I like. I can recommend their sorbet too. It's refreshing in the summer.
(4)Tina C.
(5)Meg X.
(4)Marlene S.
Nice.
(3)Victoria B.
(5)Bex M.
(4)Vic O.
(1)Steph F.
i am NOT partial to ice cream. growing up, the only time i ever downed it was bc baskin robbins sent me a free ice cream cone coupon for my birthday. but oh my lordies does THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM make me want to go back in time, hoard all my free bday cone coupons, throw them at the cashier, grab a bucket of this stuff, and gobble it down until i lapse into a coma.
(4)Jane J.

(5)Jeff P.
Very tasty, local ice cream shop. Luscious and creamy ice cream. I tried the blueberry cream cheese...very good.
(4)Jared P.
(5)Evie S.
(3)Rob W.
(5)John V.
4 stars. Good all around. Always clean, free water, Ice cream is the best I've had ever. Not enough staff all the time and place can get very busy.
(4)John D.
A must stop on a hot day for my kids and myself. Love the shakes.
(5)Anne T.
(4)Kelly B.
(3)A D.
(4)Brandon C.
I had the Peanut-butter malt and it can only be described as pure heaven in a glass. My girl had the strawberry malt and said it was really good.
(5)Ryan B.
(3)Jenny Z.
(4)Matthew K.
(4)J W.
In German I would say "LECKER"!!! Their ice cream is just delish. Creamy, milky and not too sweet which I like. I can recommend their sorbet too. It's refreshing in the summer.
(4)Jennifer M.
(5)Angie K.
(5)James B.
(5)Bartek K.
(5)Lyndsey A.
(3)Nina B.
(4)Tim A.
(5)Brit S.
(1)John C.
(1)Amber G.
(5)Tina G.
YUMM YUMM YUMM!! The best ice cream ever! I absolutely love this place and their shakes! :)
(5)Alana P.
(5)Gino W.
(2)Stephen B.
(4)Greg K.
High butterfat content makes this ice cream on top of their game. Very rich and creamy. You can't go wrong here. Love the taste!
(5)Wulfstan C.
(3)Naureen R.
Oberweis has the name--and it lives up to it! While I don't always appreciate the customer service, the pumpkin ice cream in the fall and mango-pomegranate in the summer always keep me coming back!
(4)Grace N.
(5)Luis B.
(5)Sarah T.
This is the ab-solute best ice cream ever. I tried coconut choc almond and espresso choc in waffle cone. It was delightful. The store also has chess board setup on some of the tables.
(5)Sarah W.
(5)Jessica C.
(4)Tina C.
(5)Vic O.
(1)Steph F.
i am NOT partial to ice cream. growing up, the only time i ever downed it was bc baskin robbins sent me a free ice cream cone coupon for my birthday. but oh my lordies does THE PEANUT BUTTER CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM make me want to go back in time, hoard all my free bday cone coupons, throw them at the cashier, grab a bucket of this stuff, and gobble it down until i lapse into a coma.
(4)Jane J.
(4)Meg X.
(4)Marlene S.
Nice.
(3)Victoria B.
(5)Bex M.
